Collingswood wrestling upsets conference rival Paulsboro in thrilling fashion

PAULSBORO - Riding a six-match win streak, the Collingswood High School wrestling team had its sight set on an upset in the Colonial Conference.


The Panthers upended its longtime conference rival Paulsboro, 37-36, with a pin in the match's waning moments.


Collingwood's Nyeim Bennett delivered the final blow with a pin two minutes and 47 seconds into the first period putting the Panthers up 37-30 with one bout left. Kwamerre Long gave the Panthers the lead in the bout prior at 190 pounds with a pin of his own.


The match started at 106 pounds where Paulsboro jumped out to a 23-0 before surrendering the advantage. A trio of pins and a second-period tech fall by Antonio Chila provided Big Red's quick start.


Collingswood advances to 11-3 on the season, while Paulsboro drops to 6-5, marking a three-match skid.
